Applications for Pioneer Farm Family Awards now being accepted
The AKSARBEN Foundation is currently accepting applications for the 2023 Pioneer and Heritage Farm Award. Sponsored by AKSARBEN and the Nebraska Farm Bureau, the program honors farm families whose land has been owned by the same family for 100 years (Pioneer) and 150 years (Heritage). This is a one time award, so applicants must apply for either the 100 or 150 year award. Recipient honoree farms receive one engraved plaque and one gatepost marker as permanent recognition of their milestone.
Application forms can be obtained online at the Fillmore County Extension Office or can be filled out online at www.aksarben.org. Questions concerning these applications may be emailed to the AKSARBEN website, or by calling Debbie Hoarty, Fillmore County Ag Society Rep, 402-282-7372, or e-mail: debbie.hoarty@gmail.com. Application details must be verified by the Fillmore County Ag Society and should have accompanying paperwork , showing verification of historical ownership. An additional short story can accompany the application, which may be read at the presentation during the Fillmore County Fair. The 2023 AKSARBEN Award applications are due to the Fillmore County Agricultural Society on or before 6 p.m. on April 5th so that they can be voted on at the monthly meeting on April 11 and submitted to the AKSARBEN Foundation. All Farm Award applications are due to AKSARBEN by April 15th. Applications submitted after that date will be held until the 2024 Award application period.
Completed applications with verification data should be mailed to Debbie Hoarty, 1510 Road 6, Grafton, NE 68365, or they may be left at the Fillmore County Extension office before the April 5th date. Additional instructions are available on the AKSARBEN website and at the Extension office. Instructions and application forms on the website are located under the Agriculture section on the site. Applicants who are verified and approved by the AKSARBEN Foundation will be notified by mail, with a follow-up letter from the Ag Society shortly before the Fillmore County Fair. Presentation will be prior to the 5 p.m. Demo Derby/Figure 8 Race on Sunday, July 9th, 2023.
